Rising Conviction Needs A Drummer

Our original drummer has left for good on the best of terms. We are in need of a talented percussionist for writing, recording, and live performance.

Rising Conviction is an established band in Phoenix. We are classified as ALT METAL. In the last 6.5 years, we've released 2 CDs and played any place you've heard of, with anyone you've heard of. We have had, until now, zero lineup changes, which means we aren't dicks. We are consistently referred to as "original", "weird", "different" by all who come across our music, which means we are not looking for someone who wishes to join an existing template. Upon finding our new drummer, we will immediately begin writing/recording a new album rather than rehash what's been done. If you want to know more about us, see our myspace profile: http://www.myspace.com/risingconviction

To be considered, you must:

- Be a great drummer, who can easily move between time-signatures, come up with new material on-the-fly, love dynamics, and play with a metronome with zero difficulty. We want someone who is actively developing a unique style and will settle for nothing less than pure originality while writing. We are a LOUD band, you have to be able to beat the hell out of your drums when the time comes. Studio/Stage experience is a plus, but not necessary. You also need to have good equipment and know how to maintain it.

- Be able to practice 2-3 times per week, between the hours of 5:30-9, M-F on a set schedule. In short, day-jobs are preferable.

- Have reliable transportation capable of transporting your own gear.

- Have a job, make your own money, and be willing to pitch in on band expenses. We split everything (except gear) 4-ways. You'll also have to be able to take on various band 'jobs' other than playing the drums. You will be expected to help promote the band with every facet of your being.

- Looking for someone between 22 and 30 years of age. If you slightly fall out of that range, go ahead and apply anyway and we'll take a look. If you lie to us about your age, we will kick your ass.

- Be decent with computers and like using them. This may seem strange but it is very important for our daily operation

- Long-ago left the mainstream commercial garbage to the little girls and have your own taste/style.

- Have a good outlook on life, be decently nice, don't steal things, not addicted to anything illegal, etc. Good prank calling abilities a plus.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

If you meet the above criteria and want to be part of Rising Conviction, follow the instructions below to apply for the job. When we have enough quality applicants, we will begin holding scheduled auditions at our rehearsal studio in Tempe.

Here's the instructions. Please read and comply if interested. Keep in mind that if you can't follow instructions, you're probably not going to work out for us.

Step 1. Download and learn how to play any 2 of these 3 songs: Axel FU | For Your Son | Drugs and be ready to play one with us in an audition

Step 2. Copy, paste, and fill out the following questions and email to band@risingconviction.com

1. Name / Age ?

2. What is your myspace profile address?

3. Tell us about your musical background and experience:

4. What music is in your rotation currently?

5. What influences your writing?

6. Describe your playing style. got anything we can listen to?:

7. What gear do you use?

8. Zebra or Seagull?

9. Do you fulfill all of the listed requirements?

Rising Conviction's last show with the original lineup is this Wednesday night at The Sets in Tempe. One of us is leaving the band, though I cannot say who it is until after the show. If you can, come out and watch the 4 of us on stage for the very last time. The show is free if you bring a can of food. This show is all ages, and we go on around 11:30. There's a flyer at the end of this post with all the rest of the info. Most everyone has Thursday (Thanksgiving) off, so come have a beer with us and say goodbye.

The rest of us have plans to continue, though we cannot say exactly where it will lead. Our hope is to return sometime in 2008, but you know how that goes. Part of what makes a local band stick together through all the hard shit of being being an indie band is being good friends. It is impossible to say how introducing a new element will do.

Hope to be back next year. See you at the show.

UB's was a frantic sweaty mess, thanks for showing up and drinking the juice. I heard Blackboard was awesome, but I had to go home and sleep so I could maybe shoot a blackbear the next day. The word on the hard streets of new york is that we are recording some new songs to give to you guys in a little bit. In the meantime take these songs and shove them up your cd player. If you're a fan of crops June will be a good month for you.

Right-click and do 'save as' to get the song. If you just want to download a zip file with all of them in it, it's right here (around 80 megs or so)

From our newer EP, "Saving Sons". There's one more on this disk that's a half hour long and a very different style for us:
Axel F U
Drugs
For Your Son
Regular Zebra VS. Seagull, Part 1

From our first full-length, "Salazar Brothers". These are 9 of the 17 tracks on the album:
Shudder
Badger
Incriminating Downfall
Skin
The Trinity
Ultrasharpe Backstab
Skepticit
Middle of the End
House of the Rising Sun

We're back in the studio recording another couple of songs, and hope to have them ready by the end of summer. One of them is new and the other you'll know. The highlight of recording is Andy's sexual stories. Here he is spinning a yarn of betrayal and anal beads. It was a very interesting story for anyone that is a fan of Who's the Boss.

We're going to be in Utah and Idaho later in the month for the TOUR OF CROPS, ending with Smile Empty Soul, The Exies, and The Sammus Theory on the 26th. If you like crops as much as I do, be ready to come to a show when we get to your town.

Lake Havasu was a lot of fun. Many thanks to Havasu Underground and all of their staff and the people who made it out to the show. We drank a lot of beer and Andy drank even more beer.

The DAILY PODSHOW played Axel F U today. It's in German so you can't understand anything the dude says, unless you are the one dude from Germany to know about us. Hi Alex.

We have tickets for MetalStock 2006. Get them already, it's next Saturday for fucks saiki.

Eine FUNF!
